All paintings are sold unframed. If you would like to purchase a frame, I have one style available: gold plein air. I will frame the picture for no charge, but I sell the frames at my cost.
Color and beauty are all around us, but sometimes we are too busy to really see them. Carolyn tries to capture the exciting colors on her canvases so everyone can savor the vibrancy of ordinary things. The light, colors and subjects in her paintings are designed to transport the viewer to calm, relaxing places.
Carolyn is a self-taught artist living in Ventura.
Artist Bio
I started painting later in life, though I had the talent since I was a child. I was filling the house with art books and constantly visiting museums because I loved the oil paintings. Finally my husband insisted I start painting, since he knew that was my calling.
I am a self-taught artist, and because of this, I can focus on the direction I want my art to develop. I am attracted to the style of impressionists, because of their airy and colorful interpretation of life.
Ventura gave me the opportunity to paint sunny scenes year-round. I sought out workshops with established artists, plus I embraced the wealth of information on the internet, such as books, teaching videos, and international art forums where artists critique and encourage each other.
Eventually I discovered the colorist movement, pioneered by Henry Hensche. The vibrant colors and glowing light was what I really wanted to paint because that was how I saw the world, and I wanted to share my vision.
